About Desiccant Silica Gel

Desiccant silica gel is a strong adsorbing material, capable of absorbing moisture and made from amorphous silicon dioxide (SiO). It finds extensive use in shielding commodities from moisture-induced damage while allowing them to be stored or transported. It occurs either as bead or granular type, is porous, and possesses a high surface area. Due to these characteristics, it is capable of adsorbing 3035% of its own weight of water.

It exists in two primary forms:

Silica gel indicator, which is color-changing when it takes up water (e.g., blue to pink, or orange to green), and

Non-indicating silica gel, which is white or transparent irrespective of humidity level.

Silica gel is chemically inert, not toxic (other than cobalt-based blue forms), and safe for electronics, pharmaceuticals, apparel, food packaging, and more. It can be regenerated by heating at 100120C and is therefore reusable and economical. Whether in sachets, bulk packs, or specialty drying systems, desiccant silica gel is one of the most consistent and universal solutions to humidity control.
